Caring for Ourselves Is an Act of Love
Welcoming ourselves, without demands or judgement, is a beautiful step towards unconditional love

Hello, shall we take care of you?
This week, the equinox took place: the beginning of autumn and the farewell to summer.
Summer is a time when the warmth and the sunlight invite us to expand, to open ourselves to the world, to go outside and spend more time outdoors.
Autumn brings a different invitation: one of introspection, as we prepare for retreat.
Like a maternal voice that slowly begins to call us home, preparing us for the rest and silence of winter.
But this broader view of life, connected to the seasons of the year, led me to reflect on how, in reality, even within a single day, week or month, there can be several “seasons” (emotions, feelings, sensations, needs, thoughts, etc.).
Do we notice this?
Do we really listen to ourselves?
Respecting our own pace can often be difficult.
We are naturally social beings. We belong to different “tribes”: our partners, children, family, school or work colleagues, groups of friends, hobbies...
Inevitably, our own rhythm intersects with the rhythm of others, and it is not always easy to prioritise what we need. And this happens alongside all the emotional baggage we already carry with us.
It is genuinely difficult to always respect our own pace.
But what if we replaced “always” with the intention:
“I take care of myself.”
🌱 Invitation — The “Seeds” Ritual
The idea is simple:
sow small self-care rituals into your everyday life.
- Sit down for 5 minutes and make a list of small things you would like to do for yourself — things that are realistic, possible and in tune with your own sense of what care means to you.
- Choose one or more and put them in your calendar. You could start, for example, by doing one once a week.
And if you don’t? That’s okay!
Your commitment to yourself is important, but the idea is not to create another obligation. It is to create space for yourself.
Perhaps taking care of yourself simply begins by listening to yourself and choosing one small thing that feels right for you today. Little by little, sowing the habit of listening to yourself, of taking care of yourself.

Caring for ourselves is an act of love. It means knowing how to listen to ourselves, respect ourselves and accept ourselves just as we are. Including our imperfections, our mistakes and the shadows we are not always proud of. Being able to welcome all of this and, still, give ourselves a hug, without demands or judgement, can be a beautiful step towards unconditional love.
Warmly,
Um beijinho
